Hi Curious1
Still a good idea to see a pro for some one on one. Then you could explore all the choices and plan for future. At least you know you are taking some steps.
I can't realy explore your situation in this forum, and a simple answer could be dangerous.
Often people find that volunteering themselves, or taking up other activities can keep them going, and give theme the balance they need to feel fulfilled.
For example, when I worked in sales management I found my counseling skills helped me to be succesful, and I realy liked the products. However, there was a conflict between my values and those of this sales driven organisation. (nothing wrong with their values, just not a fit for me.)
I volunteered myself in the community, ran groups and workshops, connected myself with people and causes that fit my values, and that kept me happy enouph to work there for years, while I prepared and trained for another branch of counseling to make a change.
Anyways, while many of us face the same kinds of transitions in our lives, everyone is different. Best is to find a counselor who is trained in this field and explore all the posiibilites with him/her.
All the best
