How does everyone word their financial goals? We aren't supposed to use the word debt (I want to be debt free) which I understand. In another post Alex told me that being financially independant isn't measurable. I've accumulated a lot of debt over the years...that is one of the primary things I'd like to be rid of. Should I make my goal a monthly/yearly goal and just use that to pay it off?
What works for everyone on here?
not exactly what you asked for, but a great book for getting the financial part of your life handledhttp://www.amazon.com/Richest-Man-Babylo...1523&sr=8-1
As for me, I usually state my goals:
"I have xxx dollars in the bank after taxes." don't worry about time, just make the dollar amount believable, but a little bit of a stretch.
I haven't had any debt for a while, so I'm no help to you there...
Goals need to be timebound otherwise they may never materialise. Even if the deadline is missed, it's OK. It may take longer, but there is a good chance it will happen.
For financial independence, you need to state an yearly or monthy income you want to achieve. Make it realistic! Don't ask for a Donald Trump income. Again you need a deadline by which you want to achieve it. Make it realistic, not imaginary.
To clear debt, again set a deadline, then you may say that: "My total cash assets with Bank XYZ will be XXX dollars by whatever date.
If you use the computer a lot, maybe you like to download the Motivator for free to remind you of your goals at regular time intervals.
Are you talking about the motivator that has been mentioned on another fourm? Or the insivible clock, personal timing device?
Thank you for your replies...anyone else?
I started a thread on Properity way back and there were some suggestions then... You just have to decide what is best for you and then follow thru... which some of us don't do too well... (blush)...
anyhow if you like, do a search on prosperity and see if you can find it. I did get some good suggestions.
here is the thread if it comes up....
ps... you might want to skip over my threads as I was veering off...
hope there is something helpful in here for you. Glad you brought it up cause I would like to come up with $1300 by next month! I'm just going to mentally put it out there.
