I think I may have discovered why I hate my classes so much: I'm in the wrong major!! I was a Electrical Engineer w/ computer option, now I'm changing to Electrical Engineering Technology w/ computer option. Basically, I'm going from theoretical to a more hands on career. The best part is, next semester I'll get to take 3 engineering courses, instead of not really taking any until nearly my junior year! Sorry all, just had to share my excitement

I think I know how you feel. I majored in economics which seemed very theoretical at that time. Now I know economics is not for me.

I have been confused about what I wanted to do for a long time. I still am. But I do know I would like to make money. Also know how to make money in real estate.

After I had gotten my PhD in Computer Science, I realized what a waste of time that was. I was better off getting certifications in Microsoft, Sun, Cisco, CompTIA, Oracle, etc. The fact is, you never stop taking classes, even long after you graduate, so what's another 3 classes? Do you really want to graduate real soon given the present state of the job market?

I was working on graduate degrees in Psychology afterwards as I really didn't know what I wanted to do. I soon realized that wasn't going to do it for me either. Much of waht we're looking for is to be found outside of classes. What is success anyway?

What is success? Hmm... interesting. Probably 1% of what I have learned in college has been useful to me in my real life - I graduated in 1999, BS in Computer Science. Colleges teach theory, has nothing to do with what you face in practical life. And people who are teaching how to be successful... well, they are broke and they live pay check to pay check. Any job is like that. That's why I lost all interest in "jobs". I'm developing my own business now. I believe success can be taught by people who are where you want to be in life and they are willing to teach & guide you. My definition of success includes TIME, MONEY & SECURITY at the same time all the time.
