continued from Genius Code forum

A few months ago I found something by an Americam monk named Genpo Roshi ...it is alot like Gestalt, actualy, I think it IS gestalt.

It is a nice piece of work called BIG MIND.
In about 30 minutes, he leads people to an egoless state that takes many a lifetime to attain. You can download the MP3s for free at his site... http://www.bigmind.org/

If anyone would like to discuss this, I am open to it!

Hi Vita-man:

OK - I actually ended up downloading two MP3 files - took a while to find them on the site - they're sort of "hidden" out in the open. Anyways, I ended up initially doing the 15 minute spot with the woman called "Sheila" (needless to say this was very interesting for me L L ). That session got things rolling for me - was a good thing it was short, because I was sort of starting to space-out.

Then, I discovered the longer, 35 minute version with the guys from Integral-Naked. So after a break of about an hour, I listened to that one as well, pretty much in a meditative state so I could just sort of coast along with it. I would probably have received more benefit from it had they not recorded it next to the Indianapolis Speedway (at least that's what it sounded like)! I found the background noise extremely distracting.

However, because I was determined to follow this through, I stuck with it. Needless to say, I will probably never look at my mind the same way again. Very expansive stuff!

Sitting here now typing this, I feel a tremendous sense of peace (something I've really needed today - major upset with my Mom), and in a way I'm beginning to understand what Bill Harris means now when he says "Just let everything be OK". It is already OK - we just don't always let it be that way. All the "voices" get involved, trying to get their share of the "cookie", and everyone ends up with crumbs, but no one gets a big enough chunk of the cookie to really appreciate it.

I am going to experiment with this concept (probably concept isn't the appropriate term - just not sure what else to call it at this time). I will be back with my observations - the experiment will take a few days, as I want to test under a few different scenarios.

Thank you VM for this - what a ride!

Cheers!
Unis

Yes, very expansive! (but not expEnsive!)
Bill Harris talks about it alot, getting to an egoless state through meditation practice. Actualy, that is talked about in a lot of places- Aikido, QiGong, "non-attachement" In Zen, it is part of Satori.

What amazes me, is that in 30 minutes, you can accomplish one of the things that takes many years of meditation(hi-tec or not!) Of course, meditation has many other benefits too.

I found that after experiencing Big Mind, my meditation practice deepened quite a bit.

What makes Big Mind different from meditation?

Posted By: vita-man Re: egoless state - 12/04/05 03:52 AM
BigMind is not a meditation practice, it is a process which allows a person to bypass dualistic thinking and ego states. While that certainly is one of the goals and outcomes of life-long meditation, this process (and some others like Douglas Harding's "on having no head")accomplishes that one goal in just a half hour.

Rather than my trying to explain it, why not go listen, it's free!

Vita-Man,

Thanks for the link!!! It's absolutely fantastic!

I've done the process four times now and it feels sooo good... I'm hooked.

Hi Bhenry:

Well, the link works - IF you're a member at US$10.00 per month. I suppose I could join for one month, but I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Ken Wilber and company. Guess I'll just have to make due with the "speedway" download.

Cheers!

Hi Unis,

I didn't realize it was $10 a month until after posting the link. Why don't you like Ken Wilber? Is it his style of writing?

I didn't bother going any farther than the 2 free recordings. I was very happy to find an elegant way past the ego mind!

After all, what could be bigger than big mind? I wouldn't mind donating, to support Genpo's work, cause this process is SO wonderful- but I do not see the point in paying for more lessons to let the "seeker" keep seeking when the whole is already right there! Ironic, eh?

Hi:

Let's just say it's not his style of writing, but perhaps what is being done with the information he has written (by others) which he has not chosen to put a stop to, and which has tended to not sit well with me on several levels, from personal to professional. Saying anything more gets tricky from a legal standpoint, so that's pretty much all I will say here.

Cheers!
