I just started working at the patent office and my job is to quickly read through patent applications and then search through all of the information in the world to see if some one thought of the idea before the patent applicant. I've been trying to think of good intent statements such as:
"I am reading this to learn the technology."
"I am reading this to learn the concepts."
"I am reading this to learn the similarities of what I am reading."

Any suggestions?
If your purpose is to check if the idea has already been patented then that's the purpose.

Intention statement.
I'm reading this to to find if the idea has already been patented so that I can do my job correctly.
