can you say, false advertising?

Crazy Ed... with piracy going crazy, no one is going to bother with buying his stuff. Especially when the main page is called SPEEDREADINGINFO. errr what a revolution that is...

Go borrow ReadingGenius from your friends if they have it and listen to it. It is absolutely a work of a genius! Paul Scheele that is. :P

I checked out the site. They way they get around it is the made up a lame service called "Photo Reading" where they do a "psychic reading" off of your photograph. And this site just happens to have a link to their reading Genius course.

If their product was so great they would let it stand on its own merit, not trick people into thinking they are on a competitor's page.

From LSC homepage:

"PhotoReading," "Paraliminal," "Natural Brilliance," "Accelements," and "EasyLearn" are registered trademarks owned by Learning Strategies Corporation.

Can you smell lawsuit?!? Hypenated or not, crazy eddy cannot use the phrase as a unique mark to sell his product.

Good luck Pete, Paul and Dana !

Poor marketing really. People don't like being mislead and that is misleading advertising.

It does kind of demonstrate a couple of things about Reading Genius when you think about it.

As a Photoreader you photoread books on ways to do things better. If you're in business and want to market your business you photoread marketing books (correct?) I only did 6 so far for my business... not yet activated but came up with some keen ideas.

Well if Mr Reading Genius did infact apply his techniques to gain knowledge of marketing skills he failed miserably to gain that knowledge and has committed a couple of marketing blunders.

1. Never ever draw attention to your competition by attempting to put them down. (Many people know the story of the fox and the grapes).

2. Never ever misrepresent your business (Something I believe he has done by using that URL)

3. As commonsense pointed out PhotoReading is a registered trademark and you never ever use the competitions trademark to draw in customers (modified or not). Here in Australia he could be taken to court by customers for False Advertising. Marketing books make a point of saying 'its nota smart way to do business.

Of course he would know that having applied his 'reading genius' skills to gain marketing knowledge.

So if he read the books - he didn't learn much from them.

If he didn't read the books - why not, wouldn't it be wise to practice what one teaches?

If he wants to sell his courses there are better ways of doing it. Goodness knows there isn't a shortage of potential customers for both LSC and RG it's a case of effective marketing. Personally I have no doubt that many people can benefit from his courses too. I for one have often considered exploring his products. However a page to put down photoreading on his website was off putting and I reject businesses that need to put down other businesses with the same bias. In my mind if the product is that good you don't need to waste my time telling me that the competition is no good. The question I do find myself asking is, 'do I really want someones whos actions are so obviously petty have any influence on my mind?'

Crazy Ed... So far, I'm 1/2 way through his course. Thank you my buddy for the borrowed tapes. Anyhow...

I got the impression that he wants to explain all the wrongs before you tackle anything... confidence for the lacking and skill building for the knowledgable.

I think Ed does wayyyy to much in that Reading Genius, I had to write things down right after I finish "photocopying" aka PRing. He gives you 10seconds, I barely can write a sentence and he tells you to stop. okie... Then he said this would ultimately make you believe your triggering the info you just read. Really... AlexK told me once that freenoting would take ~2-3pages before the information is authentically about the book. Hrmm... He took me through some Image streaming or some image thing where you imagine the activity at hand before you engage yourself... Wasn't that in Direct learning... poor Ed.

I cannot get over the Butthead stuff and all the other jokes he cracks on the tapes.

AlexK, have you tried his products? Youngprer, you? Anyone besides myself...

All in all, it ties up some lose ends which I liked but I'm sure some suggestions from AlexK could of done the same, if not better, to guide me to success.

I'll debrief the tapes real quick...

T1 - A - Why Most People Don't Read Well - Ed tells ya, just like in some Speedreading course, that you cannot read well. Are you someone like that? (asks Ed)

T1 - B - Principles of Reading Genius - Just like Paul, gives a round explaination and tells some stories, not bad. So far so good.

T2 - A - Let the Exercises Begin - Hrmm, open one eye, switch eye, I can hear my inner pirate calling out (assume I see BlackBeard)

T2 - B - Conditioning the Performer - Visual guide exercise, not bad. So far, nothing that grand.

T3 - A - Empowering Exercises - YOU can do it! just believe in yourself... "expect nothing and get something, don't expect too much."(what... then what do I get if I know I cannot get anything...ANSWER ME ED!!!)

T3 - B - Performing the Strategy - more music w/ one eye pirate PRing style. Jumping jacks... like KungFu+Paul Scheele+PRing...what an idea...

T4 - A - For a Bigger Brain - :P I thought of Kenji for this tape, BIGGER BRAIN. why... Ed wants us to have a brain tumor. kidding.

T4 - B - Better Recall - practice my friends, more pratice

T5 - A - Newspapers & Magazines - tis in the PRing book, how to handle articles, etc.

T5 - B - Summary, Questions, & Answers - mind probing. what... it is isn't it? Ed wraps up.

Rest of tapes are Great music, good for a while at least... insert your own inspirational music. ~60bpm for that nice heart beat sync. Hmmmm...

Is it worth it? I dunno... I'll ask my friend. But he liked PRing better. :P

Chang

ps - AlexK - am I really suppose to have that mindset of expecting nothing, no success, no anything...Just do it is ok if I see where I am going, that part of the course completely dropped me flat on the ground.

pardon my french but ed is full of s%#t.

thank you for the breakdown of his course chang liu but i have no interest in buying his or anyone else's course. PR works, which is not something i can say about any of the other courses i tried previously (although debono and buzan have the right idea and jean marie stine was also onto something).

until someone comes up with something superior to PR and Natural Brilliance i'm sticking with LSC.

Like I already said. I find it difficult to want to trust someone to put ideas into my mind who uses poor marketing skills like that so no. I have chosen not to avail myself to his material.

On the freenoting I pointed out that Win Wenger himself said that it wasn't really until you were in the flow (some 2 to 3 pages) that freenoting started hitting the core of the subject.

Have an open mind, go for the experience is a good mindset. However you need to hold your expectations high. You need to understand that we don't often live up to our expectations but the higher our expectation the higher we aim to reach. It helps to aim for our goals with a sense of play. If we have low expectations we live below them too. Like with the PR course at the end of it if you're applying the system as given you should be able to get your reading done in 1/3 the time it took you before you started. That is a realistic starting expectation. If you're not getting that then you are probably skipping some of the steps. Then your expectations would take to to look at what you might be missing.

If you're really not going to expect anything why even put the time into it. I suppose it is meant if you approach it like a true scientist a I'm going to mix this with this and see what happens approach then it might be appropriate. But even then scientist will ask 'if I mix this with this will this happen?' So they usually have some expectation, they are looking for some outcome.

If you buy a reading course intended to speed up your reading... it stands to reason that you expect to see an improvement in your reading skills. Not unreasonable. That's why LSC has coaching and the forum to help you through and it is repeatedly pointed out the first target is 1/3 the time it takes to regular read the book. Many people jump this target wanting the book in 30 minutes target first time round. Naturally their expectations haven't been met but guess what? If they keep trying sooner or later they will reach it if they keep their expectations high.

Like it's been said 'If you don't know where you're going how will you know when you get there.'

Thanks for posting the information about the course. Kind of expensive to just have so much music. I definately wouldn't be popular in a library trying to listen to music to help me to read better. Being deaf I'd need getto blasters. So the course isn't worth it for me.

Alex

I went to his web site. His attempt to sound credible is poor because:
1. He used the URL:www.photo-reading.com
(misleading)

2. He rips off LSC by using some of their terminology to explain their inferior system.

3. He uses the misleading site name and then he SLAMS Photoreading and LSC.
