I started looking for mind mapping software again. There seems to have been an explosion of products.

Yes, I want to use it for PRing and note taking, but also for more structured tasked (work related like things: documentation, planning, project management).

The first type of mind map whats creativity and freedom, the second wants structure and import / export modalities (html, word, gnatt charts, project management software).

I've taken a look around and have not found a truly all encompassing, do it well, type of software package.

Some of the more commercial packages do the structured typed maps quite well, but don't look like they'd be great for PRing.

A few of the ones that look good for PRing don't support linking to other software or event document development.

Has anyone else done a survey of these products or have used some and would share their evaluations of them (What they do well and what they don't do).

Thank you in advance.

Possibly not what you are looking for but for others, there is a free mindmapping software called freemind (google it) which runson java. It is not a hugely flexible program but it is a good start for those who do not want to but a package or just try it out.

Thanks

I have downloaded (neet new compound word) it, and used it. It is actually quite good.

For free it does a pretty good job on the structured type mind maps. I've used it to organize (centralize) information on projects. Since you can link (or include) documents and directories.

I've not been as successful exporting documentation using Freemind.

However, I don't find it very satisfying for PR mindmaps.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
