Hi all,

I have a curious "problem"... I've been lately smelling smoke in my nose, even though there is nothing to smell. The hallucination is very real. This has continued 3-4 weeks now. The smell gets sometimes stronger sometimes weaker. Today I even felt that my eyes were itching because of the non-existent smoke. (!)

I read on another thread that the "retreaters" had been smelling lotus in their retreet. Could it be that SFQ generally has a strong influence on the sense of smell?

Hi Purjo,
I can not say what your experience specifically relates to, although, I can be confident saying that you are moving through something, and just stay with your practice. Try and refrain from itching, if you experience the urge during exercises. Let the energy move as it does, without interfering physically, or, mentally for that matter. Keep your focus, go into the emptiness.
The lotus , or incense fragrance at the retreat is related to spiritual energy, or spiritual presence, in relation to doing healing work. Usually it is most prevalent, after group healings, although it is certainly possible in one's own self practice.
Love,
gallen

Purjo,

When I first started practicing Spring Forest QiGong, whiling visualizing removing blockages and seeing them turn into SMOKE, I too have smelled smoke. The first time that happened, I looked out my window to see that no one was burning anything outside. They weren't so I concluded that I was removing blockages.

Hope that Helps.

If the smoke smell and itching occurs when you are changing thinks to smoke great. In Master Lin's material (somewhere) he describes some people actually smelling burning flesh. This was in relation to holding the image of a candle flame under a tumor.

Of course we are only changing energy blockages to smoke, not the remaining perfectly healthy tissue.

OK, Now I get it!! Of course it is the suggestion by Mr. Lin!

I was not particularly worried about this thing, and now I'm even less. I know I'm still going through big things, sometimes i find myself in a strange land inside my head.

Thank you all, Gallen, Skusnerz and Iam2, for your replies. I'm glad I asked.

...and Gallen, about your second post, English is not my native language and I may have implied more than I intended. Who knows?

purjo, don't assume it is just a matter of auto-suggestion. Qi is real and its ability to transform is real.

You like my demonstration of confidence.

Iam2,

I have learned to trust my other than conscious mind. Now it has decided to follow Mr. Lin's suggestions (well, they are powerful, i've noticed ). I could be sensing or smelling anything, if his suggestion was not there.

About Qi, I see it now as light and feel as a certain kind of easiness and cool. I know my understanding about qi will change in the future many times. I don't like to rush my understanding now but let it come as it comes. (... Well, I would like to hear qi, too, not only see, feel and smell. Yes, it'll come... )

BTW, something that I have wanted to write many times: the password is the most important thing to me in SFQ. I feel that it is everything. It changed my life and attitude. I just hope I would have ordered SFQ earlier!

I almost forgot...!

Iam2, your "strange" suggestion left me wondering... Which it is probably meant to do...
