I am new to Fung Shui and just finished the Essentials. I am working to situate my bedroom and office to face one my best directions. None of my walls face an exact best direction and angling the furniture does not work, so does it matter if we're off a bit on our best directions? e.g. My success direction is SE, so I positioned the head of my bed as close to SE as I could get -- it is between E and SE, but closer to SE. Is this okay, or does it need to be exact? Thanks!

Aloha sheri,

You do the best with what you have to work with. Remember that on your compass SE has a range of degrees (112.5-157.5 degrees) - not just the printed "SE" on the dial. Also remember although your success direction is ideal, any of those four best directions can be used.

Much Love, Shawn

Hi Shawn,

I am also a beginner whose home is not aligned along the compass points.

Are the range of degrees documented in the manual? They are not mentioned in the instructions on compass reading on page 12 of level 1.

This is important to me because my bed is currently at 196 degrees which I think means it is to the South. As a 6, this is my Total Loss direction which would explain a lot of what has happened in the last year since I moved it.

Also your answer confuses me because if SE has a range of degrees (112.5-202.5 degrees), this would be a range of 90 degrees. But if there are 8 directions, 360/8=45. So do the directions overlap?

Sorry to be so anal but it seems that getting these directions are very important as just a few degrees move you from Relationship to Total Loss which sounds really bad.

Cheers and Thanks,
Yvette

Hi, Yvette. You're right. SE is 112.5 to 157.5. Thanks for noticing that!

The exact degrees for all the directions are listed on page 15 of the Level Three manual.

Aloha Yvette,

Thanks, must have been a busy morning during that reply. Rest assured, my compass is the same as yours, my eyes however caught the end of South's degrees as I was typing.

I've changed the reference above.

Hi Shawn!
This is important. I have the Gold edition so I can`t get the correct compass directions. Even in level 1 and 2 you need to be accurate. Is it possible for you to post the exact degrees for all the directions?

Thanks, Kent
