I have recently started level 2 active excercises. Master Lin says that one can substitute these excercises for level 1 excercise.

What meditation is then done to go into the emptyness if I discontinue my level 1 active excercise.

Many thanks
Sibaya

Even when you go onto the Level 2 Active Exercises you can still practice parts of the Level 1 system, you don't have to give it up entirely.

For instance I believe that Master Lin has said that he still does Small Universe from time to time and that a person at any level of Spring Forest Qigong can benefit from doing it to open the two largest energy channels in the body.

If you practice the Level 2 Standing exercises and you still want to practice Self-Concentration or Small Universe, if you find that they help you go into the emptiness then by all means practice them! You can connect to the Universe and go into the emptiness with any of the Spring Forest Qigong practices, whether you are doing Level 2 standing exercises or Level 1 standing or sitting exercises.

I find that when I am practicing ten thousand invisible hands especially my mind will usually become really clear as I am imagining all of those invisible hands moving with me.

The key to deepening your connection is to practice, practice, practice whether it is Level 1 or 2 or any of the Spring Forest Qigong higher levels.

Best of luck to you,
-Dave

Thanks Dave,
Just one more question - Approx how long should I do each excercise in level 2. I have up to now spent 1 hour doing the Level 1 active excercises each day.

Many thanks

Les

FYI, the ren (front, conception) and du (back, governing) channels are not the biggest channels in the body. They are important, but they only span from the bottom of the torso to the top of the head. There are other channels that span all the way from head to foot.

One tries to enter the emptiness whether doing the active exercises or the sitting meditations. In the level 2 course, you should have received an hour-long small universe CD. An hour long meditation allows us go deeper and stay in the emptiness longer.

Dave, swap "main" for "largest," and your RENs and DUcks will be in a row.

Sibaya: youu get the Small Universe Meditation as an hour-long CD as a bonus in the Level Two course. It's at this point which you start lengthening your meditation time.

As for the active exercises - the bottoms of pages 6 and 7 in your manual cover that.

Much Love, Shawn

Hi Shawn,

I am glad I made that mistake, just for the cute joke

"Dave, swap "main" for "largest," and your RENs and DUcks will be in a row."

Thanks,
Dave

Thank you all for your help.

When doing Level 2 active excercises is there any background music or does one do the excercises in silence.

many thanks again

I like playing the guided level 2 audio cd, which has some of Master Lin's music in the background.
