Hi,

It's difficult to say which techniques Derren uses. He openly admits using "misdirections". Besides, as far as I remember, the video is cut, so it does not show everything he does. He shows only what he wants the audience to see.

And, he has admitted in an interview that his memory is not quite as good as it seems to be in the show.

hi Rfern,

I actually have that particular episode and I myself was quite interested in his abilities. In the episode Darren Brown says he uses Photoreading. He used it on a English dictionary and was able to recite the vocabulary of a specific page when asked. What I'm really wondering is how long did he wait for it to incubate. I also wonder how he knew specific vocabulary from a particular page, photoreading allows you to get a general overview of a book but not recite every word perfectly...unless I'm missing the point?

If anyone is interested here is a link on youtube of Darren Brown demonstrating Photoreading.

Hello Richard,

I have seen Mr Browns clips and feats on you tube and on dish.
He does quiet a show with all his feats. I have watched that particular clip a few times and have tried to see if i can figure out how he does it.

If this is photoreading it is an incredible example of what can be done.
But, I wonder too if he has some strange photographic memory.

I know they edit out things but the librarian who goes and gets a book off the shelf and then gives it to him. Allowing him the time to photoread it and then activate right away is a real mystery.
Plus, the librarian looks to real to be staged with his reactions and words.
So we might not be seeing everything but Darren does have some amazing ability.

I take my hat off to him and his show. I too wonder how he could activate how he does. Esp. the second book.

I always enjoy his shows.

Guys, it's a magic trick, and Derren has stated so himself.
