Does anyone know anything about LSC and any plans they might have to move to an MP3 format?

It just makes sense to offer programs in an online, downloadable format while offering at the same time the products in hard media.

I would certainly love to download a couple of PDF files and a bunch of MP3s and have my program right then and there. Instant gratification.

If Pete Bissonete and/or Paul Scheele are listening, I bet this very good idea would be rather easy to implement.

We are working on a new program that we expect to launch to existing customers in pdf and mp3 formats, only. Then we will carefully track usage, results, and customer satisfaction before deciding the next step.

We have our first elearning program coming out in August or September. This will be completely Internet based in flash and flash audio. Again, we will carefully track usage, results, and satisfaction...

And, as you would guess, we have a few other things up our sleaves, but we aren't ready to talk further. Just know your future is bright!

I have a question for Pete:

Will the MP3 masked out the effect of the paraliminals?
If the paraliminal is downloaded, will it affect the quality if I burn on a CD?

Regards
Mage

Mage, you should have no problems.

MP3s with typical bitrates (128 bit) lose no quality when burned to CD.

Having ripped Paraliminals to MP3 for portability, I can tell you that converting them from CD to MP3 format results in no loss of quality (at least none that I can notice).

The location effect on the voices remains intact.

You generally have no need to worry about MP3s losing quality when you burn them to CD. MP3s are compressed, so you try to get the MP3 to match the quality of the CD and not the other way around.

One thing anyone converting cd's to mp3's must watch!!

When encoding paraliminals or other stereo-effect recordings, make sure the encoder codec is set to encode in TRUE STEREO, not joint or mixed. Joint stereo mixes the channels together a little to help it compress better, altho it is better than mono, it may effect the paraliminals. As for bitrate, I personally recommend 44,100 hz sample rate (no point going higher, that is the max of a cd anyways), and 160kbs. You can get away with 128, but I personnally think 160 is better, at least with quality speakers/headphones you can tell.

Good luck!
