In one of the seminars I was watching on the DVD (special features), Paul was telling the retreat participants, that Meta-Models was basically the most useful part of NLP, and that you could let go of the other stuff.

Can someone recommend a couple of good books (up to date) on this part of NLP?

Steve

Try a google search, type in "meta-model NLP"

It's kind of a funny thing about the www it can cheaper than a book with a chapter or two on the subject and up rather up to date. Some of the papers are dated 2002 and 2003. Also some of the articles can be extracts good for deciding if they are only talk or if they teach.

Good point, Alex. I will do that. I think a Google would get more a lot more info than just searching within one forum.

Throwing all the other stuff out? Wow. Talk about deletion, huh? Seems part of the meta-model's message got lost on Paul.

There is much more to NLP than the Meta-Model. Submodalities, for instance, is a very important component, so is anchoring.

How specifically is the meta-model more useful used in what way than, say, submodalities with whom and in what situation?

Is it always, 100% of the time more useful than ANY other technique in ALL of NLP for every situation?

Sometimes the meta-model does the trick. Other times something else is more useful.

Go ahead and meta-model things you and other people say like crazy. Then tell me how useful it's been. The meta-model is really good for destroying relationships with people if you use it the wrong way.

Paul was actually relating how an NLP expert he knew well, told him about the importance of Meta-Modeling.
quote:

I don't think he's getting it wrong, or leading people to destroy their relationships with this program or his seminars.

It's my mistake in relating what I myself saw and heard in that DVD, when repeating it here in the original post.

I was being facetious. I don't think he advocates those things either. I was giving an over the top response to an over the top proposal, that is, that you can throw everything in NLP out and replace it with the meta-model.

I suppose you could do the same thing with the milton-model, submodalities, and non-verbal interventions ... but why limit yourself?
