Margaret,
I think you are talking about Ann Weiser Cornell who wrote The Power of Focusing.

Clair / Margaret,

Use to frequent the CRI forums under the handle of Quest.

What ever happened? CRI in my opionion is a great product ... why would they shut down the channel that open's communication amongst it's members?

Michael,

There is a new forum at http://pub64.ezboard.com/bcenterpointeconversations
I think they explain why the old one (CRI's) was taken down in one of the threads - try "Frequently Asked Questions" or "General." As I recall, it had to do with it disintegrating into a flame war battlezone. Something similar happened to the first Centerpointe board on ezboard.com, but they started another one and moderated it much better. They've done a nice job, and it's a very nice place to be now.

The Learning Strategies and the Centerpointe Forums are my two favorites on the internet. You might wish to check it out for yourself.

Margaret,

I'd like to put in a good word for Byron Katie's work. It doesn't seem like much when you read about it - that's true. And like you, I wasn't impressed at first. What changed it for me was hearing her work with people on tape - the difference between that and reading about it is night and day.

I became a fan after that, and I think what she is doing is absolutely amazing. She works with people at a very intimate level, and that's pretty brave, when you consider that a lot of other teachers won't even go there, including Eckhart Tolle, and I am a very big fan of his work.

However, to each his own - you don't have to like her - and I respect that. I just wanted to chime in with my two cents worth!

Jim

Really?

So comparing Byron Katie to Eckhart Tolle really doesn't hold much sway with you, I'd imagine.

I don't recall it because I never read it. Rather than going into it again here, could you tell me, where is your post on that? I'd like to read it.

Thanks,

Jim

Margaret, why do you think Eckhart Tolle, author of Power of Now, is a phoney? Have you had personal dealings with him?

I would like to learn more about emotional clearing, created by John Ruskin. I went to his web site and it does seem like a powerful healing method, I definitely want to check this out. To those that are familar with emotional clearing, can you explain specifically what it did for you and how you are using this method?

bhenry, nope, never had any dealings w/ him. I just know. Just ask anyone who was familiar w/ the old DF about Margaret's opinion of Tolle -- and they'll start yelling

It's just my opinion, my gut. You to yours & me to mine. There's enuff room for all of us in this world. Hey, there's even enuff room in Israel/Palestine for all those fighting people. BUT, the problem is that they don't think so.

Anyway---fortunately this is LS---we are into education stuff..mostly

I have been using Intergrative Processing for about 3 months. IP is what Ruskan calls his technique. It is really simple and can be summed up in "just feel the feelings." The book has helped me to learn to watch and then to deal with whatever comes up without projecting it on others. Ruskan just has a nice way of explaining the process of clearing oneself from emotions that have been stored in the body. It is very similar to focusing but for me it just really clicked.

Thanks, Claire, it really is all about getting into our bodies to sense what it is telling us. Yet, at the same time, we have to be a detached witness, which means to let go of desires & a desired outcome.

It's like we definitely need our bodies, the ego and beta brainwaves at this time on the planet. Yet, we also need a perferred method to just let the body be and do its thing while processing other kinds of information.

I'm interested to check him out.
