I'm still trying to master BG and IS but I am having a couple
difficulties....

1) instead of perceiving all that I sense in first person as my martial art
instructor, I inadvertantly flip between 1st and third person (ie. I SEE
myself perceiving the way I am describing rather than ACTUALLY being there
experiencing it firsthand).

2) I'm having a hard time coordinating a) what it is I am perceiving and b)
describing it. That is, it's hard for me to describe something when I am
trying to perceive and get a feel for what it is I am sensing in my
imagination. I'm thinking that maybe perhaps if I practiced throughout the
day of just describing what it is I am actually doing/perceiving/sensing
into a tape recorder with my eyes open...that this would give me an idea of
what it's like to describe the things that I am sensing WHILE I am actually
sensing them...thus, it would hopefully carry over to better coordination of
describing and perceiving during borrowed genius (or image streaming for
that matter).

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm doing a lot of borrowed genius as well.
I too, find it hard to describe and perceive at the same time.

However, I really believe that it is possible, with practice, to easily perceive and describe.
I know it's difficult at first, and I feel felt the same Anthony. But I have practised a lot with BG and honestly, believe this!, you will! be able to describe and perceive simultaneously, soon!

I can say that with certainty, because I thought I would never be able to do it.I was like "ahh, do me a favour, I can't talk out loud when i'm trying to get deeper in thought"
However, just recently, in the last few days,
it has started to happen, and it doesn't feel awkward.

I would also say, experience it first hand, when doing the BG method.
It's of course ok to see yourself in the third person being at a genius level.I'm sure that helps a lot.
But don't forget to go inside the genius, and be the genius.I believe that's where the greatest insights happen.

Good luck!

So be it. Who says that slipping between 1st and 3rd person is wrong. The aim is to experience as much as you can first hand however I think if we stay there we are going to be stuck not being able to explain it either. Put it this way, if the Genius you are borrowing from were able to explain it rather than just experience it we wouldn't need to do Borrowed Genius. Provided you keep moving between 1st and third person you're doing it well enough.

Your idea wouldn't hurt.

I've never experience the difficulties you have simply because I wasn't busy judging whether I was doing it right or wrong. I just did it as best as I could and then when I was done did the evaluation to see what I got. You know they say there is more than one way to skin a cat. There is more than one way to do Borrowed Genius. In fact everyone who does Borrowed Genius and any of the other Genius Code exercises is going to have their own unique way. It isn't about "doing it right"

It's about describing in detail as best you can, as fast as you can, your experience; then sitting down afterwards to write a report of your experience before trying it out for yourself. If it wasn't perfect you do another Borrowed Genius on someone else for more polish.

Ok Flex and Alex, thank you for the comments and advice. I will continue moving forward without so much concern whether it's "right" or not. And practice at it I'm sure will alleviate any feelings of doing it "properly".
