While photoreading, the chant that your concious mind does ("relax relax"), is that simply to keep your concious mind busy? And if so, would conciously thinking about a single object (a flower or a flame in the darkness) be just as effective?

1. yes, its just to get you to avoid distractions.
2. no, i wouldnt do that (look at the words). the words help you with your task of concetrating on the pr experience. if you want, you can change the chant yet bear in mind to give the new words a positive meaning in order to invoke a better experience.
