Once I started listening to the dream play tape, I noticed my dreams became much more vivid and easier to recall. I still am having difficulty with the symbolism my dreams entail, but I imagine I'll get there.

One question on lucidity. I have been noticing that as soon as I realize that I am in a dream state, I wake up. Does that happen to anybody else. If so, how do I overcome that in order to start controlling dreams.

That happened to me, too. After a few of those I was able to stay in the dream. I guess I got so excited that I woke myself up.

Before bed give yourself the suggestion that you will stay relaxed and asleep when you realize you are dreaming.

Ok, here we go:

HOW TO REMAIN IN AN LD

1. First of all, REMAIN CALM. If you get overexcited, the next thing you know you'll be sitting up in your bed.

2. If the dream begins to fade at any one time, try any one of these techniques:

HAND RUBBING Rub your hands together rapidly, creating friction in the process. Dunno why it works, but it does, with a 95% success rate.

SPINNING Spin around as fast as you can, thinking to yourself, "The next scene will be a dream." Works with a 97% success rate.

HARD STARE Stare hard at an object in your dream. Anything will do, especially, say, your hands.

Often, these methods will result in a "false awakening," which is when you *think* you've woken up (you're in your bed and everything), but you're actually still in the dream. Do a few reality checks (especially getting up and flicking a light switch) to determine your status - try floating.

how are you able to conciously recognize that you're dreaming? When I am dreaming I don't feel like I'm in control, probably because I don't realize I'm dreaming.

One way is to get in the habit of looking at digital clocks in real life, looking away, and looking back.

When you do this in a dream the time will always be different the second time you look at a clock. And, it might be nonsensical such as 39:73.

In order to do this in the dream, you must always do this whenever you see a clock while away. It's not as difficult as it may seem. It worked for me after just a few days a clock watching.
