If I listen to the paraliminal tapes, and I fall asleep, will I still get the same results? Will it be better? Worse?

It depends. If you fall asleep, but wake when Paul's voice tells you to, then you were listening. But if you fall asleep and stay asleep, you weren't really listening that well. However, it's different for everyone, so you might have to play with it for a bit.
