My two cents on page turning.
My method, which developed after dealing with a few difficult books. I use the same thumb and fore-finger capture method as used in the course. However my right hand technique has always been different.
I've found this method very good, even on new books with the fine onion like pages (1700 page dictionary for one). Starting with the right thumb (this is all right hand stuff) near the center of the right page by the binding I draw towards the upper right hand corner. Starting with the thumb roughly in the center of the page works too. I apply just the needed downward force needed (the more reluctant the book the harder the for, but nothing straining). Then once I get to the upper right-hand corner, I use the middle finger to lift the page from the rest. The middle finger comes from outside the book, and beyond the top edge.
This methods seem to "burp" the pages at the corner and separating them enough to collect a single page.
Good luck.
