I bought the photo reading book and was only mildly successful. As a 'dare', an overly-skeptical friend suggested i try it out on 'Atlas Shrugged'. I did this on the 25 minute train ride to work. Nothing. Then a few days later I was arguing about US involvement in world affairs when I used the term 'moratorium on brains'. It took a week to realize that particular term came from that 1,000-plus page book i just spent 25 minutes on. I'm not preaching that this system works, but this REALLY freaked me out. In a good way. Kinda like riding a motorcycle for the first time. I just joined this forum today and i am looking forward to sharing feedback on photo-reading. By the way, did anybody see the info-mercial where the guy read Dickens off a computer screen at speed of light and answered specific questions correctly? Pretty cool.

Yes, most of us have seen the infomercial at one point or another. Pete is insanely fast. What combination of methods and steps are you spending those 25 minutes on? with that particular book i just gave it a once-over, about 2-3 seconds between flips. i had to stop halfway through to rest my hands. they were getting numb from turning the pages and holding the book. i was just amazed to gain anything at all. it wasn't until i rapid-read the book that i realized where that phrase came from. the best way to explain it is that it seemed like something i dreamt earlier, kinda like a cross between that and deja-vu.

I'm glad you're still sticking with it. If you've seen the "Chicken Lover" episode of South park, you know why Atlas Shrugged can stop people from having a life-long love of reading. I totally agree with Officer Barbrady regarding said tome.

Kaiden - lol, great episode that was. "It's magical!" jwk - Yes, if you're getting that feeling then that's definitely PhotoFocus working its stuff. Keep in mind that there's also no need to spend any specific amount of time on the flips, your mind sees it all the same. Have you experimented with mind mapping yet? How long did it take you to rapidread that book? A friend dared me to read it and after doing the photoreading step I threw in the towel.

i can't exactly say-no more than 15-20 seconds a page. after about page 700 i came to the 'life's too short too read boring literature' conclusion. i'm more of a vonneget guy.

One interesting side-note. Although I haven't PhotoRead Pilgrim's Progress, I found the skills of preconscious processing have made my preveiwing quite interesting. The margins of the modern-language version I have are filled with Biblical references. I've found myself using more and more quotes from the Gospels, especially Luke, in my writing.
