Hi – thise is inspired by livingsucces
I have known about photoreading for about a year, and in the beginning I was completely fascinated about it and visited the forum every day. I bought the book and even attended a course here in Denmark in May last year. But like many others I am bit of a procrastinator and for some months I have not been using the system as much as I would like to. I guess, I was afraid of the activating part, somehow I always only managed to get to the photoreading part and not further – but now I will give it another shot. Over time I have collected some of the answers from the forum and printed them, yesterday I read some of them (mostly by Alex) and I decided to begin photoreading again. By the way, I have never really experienced the “gel-effect”, so I hope that I finally will.
I have this nice little book by Noam Chomsky “Power and terror” (130 pages) and yesterday I photoread the book followed by a little postview. My purpose is: “to gain new insight into foreign affairs of USA so that I can learn something new helping me to get an independent opinion as I am very interested in foreign policy.” I remember all the affirmations and close the photoreading step with a sense of mastery. My trigger words are: USA, Sovjet, 9/11, Israel, Amzi Bishara, Osama, Saddam Hussein, Bush, Terror, Power, Turkey, Europe, convention.
Today I photoread the book twice and so far I’ve had two sessions of activation (2 x 20-25 minutes). I skitter and superread and every time I “feel” that this might be interesting I read the sentence or maybe the paragraph. I formulated some general questions like: “What is wrong with the US foreign policy” and “Which arguments and historic events are used by the author?”
I wrote them down and in the middle I wrote the title of the book, and I think that after the next session I will try mind mapping.
I think I’ve got the structure of the book by now, and I try to approach this book with a sense of curiosity (it isn’t for school).
I will keep you updated with anticipation that those of you who are procrastinating will pull yourself together and start using the system.
Please ask me questions.
