I am in the process of applying the whole mind system to make it a habit (ie photoreading 3 to 4 books a day and activating at least 3 a week). Right now, I am still having trouble with the superreading portion, but am making progress. Unfortunately there are a few exams that I have to take immediately and need to essentially know most of the material in the whole book. So what I have been doing is photoreading the whole book for the exam and then rapid reading it the next day and making a mind map at the end of each chapter. Is this ok, or is it hindering me from really making progress with the superreading/dipping part of the system?

Under the circumstances it is probably your best approach. However it is much more time consuming. Focus on developing superreading and dipping skills by using the 5 day test when you don't have exams to deal with.
