How is everyone! I personally have trained my brain not to subvocalize when I am reading, but I have practiced on a daily basis outside of photoreading. I was wondering how many of you have broken the habit, just by doing that you can jump up to regular reading speeds of 1000 to 2500 wpm which is better than about 98 percent of the population. The interesting thing about is that I can do it but I am able to turn it off when I want to ramp up my speed. I think breaking yourself of the habit is an interesting aspect to photoreading!

Hello,
Well at first it will be difficult, try to read faster than you can comprehend and count 1,2,3,4 over and over again. I try to get a flow going like in music to help me concentrate. Your brain is good at grouping information into chunks and once you learn that you can increase your speed.

Just practice Superread and dipping you should be going to fast to subvocalise at that point and you'll find your natural speed increasing. Nature sounds help to quieten subvocalisation. Repearing the letter A in your mind over and over will reduce subvocalisation in as little as 30 minutes. Alex

i have a problem!I've tried to read really fast repeating the numbers but it's kind of confusing because: - sometimes I find myself subvocalizing+repeating the numbers  -I really don't understand what Iam reading...how can I achieve understanding? Last question:how long have you practised Ryan before breaking this habit?(By the way:WELL DONE!!) thanks luv ginia

Hello,
Well I am a musician and I have found that if you do like one line per count, like 1 see the line, 2 see the next one, it helps you read faster. Do not try to understand the reading as you go that is the worst way.

I hope just eyes. With an average of 33 lines to a page and at 3 to 6 pages a minute his head would be moving like a hummingbirds wings  . Alex
