Does the advice against mixing practices mean that Qigong meditation, or even the Qigong active practices, should not be done by someone who meditates in some other way? I do Vipassina/Insight meditation and lovingkindness meditation, as well as a prayer-like practice from Tich Nhat Hahn. These meditations are for spiritual development and, as far as I know, are not aimed at moving energy. Would it be okay for me to continue doing Qigong active and/or meditation exercises if I wait a certain number of hours after meditating?

Absolutely, you can continue your meditations. Do put time between them.

I do not know your meditations, but you might try the Qigong breathing method with your meditations. You might also allow energy to flow into every cell of your body with each inhale and allow extra energy to flow out with each exhale. Many have said that these two ideas work well with their meditations.

Thanks, Pete. And thanks for having this forum; it is extremely helpful.

BTW, it was just by chance that I happened to read the small print on my invoice or packing slip announcing the existence of the forum. (If it was announced in the manual or on the tapes, I missed it.) Since the forum is so helpful, you might consider using larger print for the announcement.

I just ordered the material today. I told the order taker that I have been doing tai chi for over 8 years now, and that I pretty much center my life around it. He said that as long as there is some time between my tai chi practice and the Spring Forest Qigong practice, their is no problem.

Given the posts under "mixing qigong" and Pete's post here, I'm wondering if I got the wrong advice from the order taker. Could someone from LSC please advise. If combining these systems is counterproductive, maybe I could stop the order before it goes out. Thanks.

i practice tai chi chuan, 24 forms, yang style and am now learning tai chi sword

we are taught both tai chi and qigong at my acupuncture school

although i no longer practice the qigong taught at my school, i only do that so i can get the maximum benefit out of SFQ

i have had no detriment from practicing both tai chi and qigong at the same time: whether it was the SFQ or the qigong taught at my school

in fact i believe they are beneficial, especially when it comes to feeling and moving your energy

do both! i do and i love it

Chunyi says not to practice two forms of energy work/exercise/meditation one right after another. It is best to do it in a different day part. If you want to do it one right after another, give yourself at least a 20-minute break.
