Hello, folks
I was not persistent enough to practice qigong, but I determined to do it daily. However, as I practice qigong, my knee hurts after 15 minutes of practice. I bend knee because Master Lin tells us to bend our knees. Is this normal for everyone? Or is it because I didn't practice qigong on a daily basis?

As my knee gets tired, I cannot balance when I do the step 7 (Seven Steps of New Life). I lose balance and then stumble (not a fun experience).

Anyway, I am hoping somebody can help me from these trouble!!! Thanks in advance...

Dear Klizark,

Good for you for resolving to do the SFQ on a regular basis. You are doing a good job. When your knee gets tired, you might try sitting for awhile, and continuing that way. Master Lin says the these exercises can be practiced standing, sitting, or lying down.

The 7 Steps of New Life is challenging for people who don't balance well. At the Level 1 class I took, when we learned that one, we all were sitting down in chairs doing it. That may be because the room was quite crowded, but for other exercises we did stand up. So, it's perfectly OK to sit if you need to.

For people who are really sick, they can do things lying down and still benefit!

Aloha klizark007,

Currently in his classes, Master Lin teaches the 7 steps without lifting the legs -to many people losing balance and worried about looking good so they don't stay in the relaxed emptiness where they want to be.

The 7 steps exercise has changed a bit since he first taught it some 7+ years ago. There is benefit in the leg bending and foot flexion and extension, however the benefits of staying in the emptiness and just having your feet on the floor would be more important at this point.

Much Love, Shawn

Thank you guys....

Hew~ so I guess I am not the only person who has had hard time to balance...

Yes, I will try without my foot lifting. It has been making me frustrating.

Anyway, thank you again.
