Dear joangolfing:
May I offer a possible insight?
As you continue your practice, perceive in your body (as a whole) an increase or resistance in flow/moment as you move your hands and arms. Feel for an energetic wave and/or resistance, as you move your hands and arms with slowed rotations.
There appears to be a sensation that runs throughout Spring Forest Qigong active exercises that may be described as “matching the force”. I imagine that this sense could be described as the created energetic flow matches the intent and speed of the active movement. In other words, as one intentionally slows the rhythm and focuses on increased resistance (as in adding weights to a barbell), the body energetics appears to also compensate, creating more resistance.
Before you know it, your body sensations will start to move automatically in a direct of greater rapport; making the experience almost wholly self-motivated.
Please be patient with your new outlooks. If you are not yet aware of these sensations, do not say that you ‘do not feel them’. Possibly, modify this statement to, ‘do not feel them, yet’.
Prior to entering movements of Moving of Yin and Yang, monitor your breaths and the subtle body energetics/movements created with each inhalation and exhalation. Eventually, you will notice that your body tendencies will start to shift and flow, either with a breath-in or breath-out. I have found that these tendencies of movement flow beautifully into the Moving of Yin and Yang active exercise.
A Spring Forest Qigong practice truly helps one to learn to communicate with one's Innate Intelligence.
Love and Peace,
Joe
