What has been termed Remote Viewing by the military has been called clairvoyance and astral projection in the literature on psychism. Authors Muldoon and Carrington treated techniques for developing this ability in _The Projection Of The Astral Body_. The Silva Method treats Remote Viewing in what it terms "Effective Sensory Projection", where the student learns to project their consciousness into various object. Shamanism uses a similar technique, except that the projection occurs more into the realms of the universal unconscious and deals mostly with symbolic imagery as opposed to the physical world.
