Hello all,

PR going along well. Continuing to practice, practice and practice.

One of the most important steps in my opinion has to do with activation. Lets face it, if your spending time to read a book ... you have surely defined a purpose. That purpose can range from just pure enjoyment to attainment and retention of knowledge. My purpose when reading is the latter - retention and knowledge. We all know of manual activation techniques - scan/dip, mind map, rapid read and and direct learning, although it is not a manual technique.

Are there 'other' forms of activation that have come about of late?

Humbily,

Michael Saikali

The 3rd edition of the PR book talks about Skittering and Rhythmic Perusal. I haven't figured skittering out yet. It's a way of flicking your eyes around a paragraph to pick up the important words. The technique as described in the book just doesn't gel for me.
