Obviously one must use ones own discretion in applying these tools; as I stated, they basically rely on the knowledge of human psychology. It seems to me though, that, as Arthur reiterated, deception cannot be generally encouraged. In some situations, it might be deemed necessary, in others, it would only be frivolous; in still others, it could hamper the development of freedom in the other individual. I think that such freedom and self-reliance needs to be the goal of most interaction and relationships. In fact, true synergy is enhanced in that manner. We should use 'subconscious' cues to pick up information on another without great reservation, but using 'subconscious' persuasion ought to be considered much more sensitively. I hope this clarifies my concerns. I still, obviously, hold to my other statements in the first post as well.

What they're trying to teach is a set of skills that some people use natuarally and inadvertently to achieve success. People have studied those subconscious cues and interactions so that other people can use them at will. So if one guy is inherently good at influencing others without thinking about it, and another guy intentionally mimics his powers of persuasion, is that latter person a deceptive crook?

Am working out if it's possible.

Pete,

That is a very nice hotel. I didn't get to take any pictures of it even though I had my camera in my bag. But the other instructor candidates and I did spent a nice Saturday evening at the bar plotting how to break the paradigm...

Hotel rates for the Saturday before and the Friday/Saturday after are $89/night.

Additional rooms during the week (for whatever reason) are $170/night (M-W) and $155/night (Th).

Shuttle is $24 one way.
