Hi, this is not a sales or propaganda post, its a true story.

Objective:
My background - Computer Engineering(worked as an application developmer for years), like everyone else wanted to read/learn faster.. specially all the ebooks etc ..

2001 - Bought photo reading book from Amazon.com

2001 - 2005,
I spent many days trying to make the photo reading work.

I tried to studying in a quiet room, went to library, went to park, sat on the ground, tried in the morning, at night time. Honestly nothing worked..

Searched on Google and read many articles on speed reading, good & Bad ones. hmm nop...

Bought few more books on Speed reading from amazon.com... still no luck

Downloded other ebooks, audio courses on Speed reading from P2P networks... still no help....

Last year I came accross a truth (long story), it simply says when you are doing any activity, active "Attention" will calm the brain down (no thoughts, distractions), and awaken brain to a higher level, you start to see more than what you see, eyes becomes very sensitive, reading and understanding goes to a new level, not the same way we used to do...

Again search started, I wanted to learn what is active attention means? is it focusing? concentraion? Bought many books, spent $$$ again on amazon.com..

Finally I came accross Jiddu Krishnamurti's teachings, and after a year his teachings started to act in me, I'm sure there would be other way of knowing what is True Attention means..

Without True Attention, I doubt the photo reading would ever work?

Do you have any good links? :-)

Got this from wikipedia

>> The questioner wants to know why, after these many years of watching, he hasn't found the deep waters. Why should he find them? Do you understand? You think that by watching your own thoughts you are going to get a reward: if you do this, you will get that. You are really not watching at all, because your mind is concerned with gaining a reward. You think that by watching, by being aware, you will be more loving, you will suffer less, be less irritable, get something beyond; so your watching is a process of buying. With this coin you are buying that, which means that your watching is a process of choice; therefore it isn't watching, it isn't attention. To watch is to observe without choice, to see yourself as you are without any movement of desire to change, which is an extremely arduous thing to do; but that doesn't mean that you are going to remain in your present state. You do not know what will happen if you see yourself as you are without wishing to bring about a change in that which you see. Do you understand? <<

myexperience,

you mentioned how you doubt whether photoreading works without true attention. Yet at the same time you are asking about what it is. How can you make such a statement unless you're telling yourself that you can't do something because you don't know what you need to get there? It sounds like a limiting belief issue that needs to be tossed aside.

With that in mind, what specifically do you mean by true attention when you presuppose that true attention is probably necessary for photoreading?

you forget that he mentions in his book that its not something to work hard at, but rather to play with.
