I've noticed that there is some debate in the self help world especially when it comes to affirmations as to whether one should use the "you are a worthy person" as opposed to "I am a worthy person" or vice versa.I've noticed that the paraliminals use the "you" point of reference. Is there really a difference or is it just a personal choice?

If you are affirming to yourself, then you should say "I" however, if someone else is stating the affirmation then they say "you", and you "agree".

In the book "Money is My Friend", by Phil Laut, he actually suggests saying affirmations three ways:

1)I am getting better and better

2)You are getting better and better

3)George is getting better and better

for reasons stated in the book:

"The purpose of using all three persons in affirmations is to make it easier to discover and change your negative ideas no matter where they came from - whether you thought them up yourself, whether someone else told them to you or whether someone else said them about you"

Hope that helps.

George

It has been found by repeated experimentation that speaking directly to your unconscious mind in the second person (i.e. "you") is more effective than saying "I" and will give you a maximum of results with a minimum of effort.

After reading "Refraiming" by Bandler and Grinder, it struck me that "We" could work even better.

Greeting's toward's " Tool " and other forum member's with this topic.
Should the conscious part of me begin to recite an affirmation such as, " I am Wealthy ", the affirmation would meet conscious resistance right away, In laughter, while " You are Wealthy " leave's possibilities with less resistance.
Subliminal tape's that are purchased with another person's voice in a first person script gets the subconscious' attention but, " IT " ( internally transparent )lol, has been responding to the individual's Voice throughout it's change's in their " Life Experience ".
Something more to " Think " about, when has an individual actually used their given name to condemn themself's to equal the verse, I am a dumby at this or that.
Just the " Energy " in a Word.....

I was wondering how an affirmation series would look, and work, if done in V-Prime with any voice.

V-Prime is an invention of quantum pscychology that eliminates all forms of the verb "to be."

It's a very interesting discussion, here's a different slant by Rex Sikes on Directed Questions. Rex doesn't believe affirmations are as powerful as purposeful questions, because your mind likes puzzles, and when you pose your mind a question it will go on the hunt for the reasons or answers. For instance ask "Why is today going to be a good day?" in the morning, and your mind will search for all the reasons and will help you create a good day!

Here's the article: http://www.idea-seminars.com/articles/affirm.htm

Have a good day!
How can I?....That's it!
