Does this stuff actually work? How can you get better comprehension without registering the words consciously? I'd like to test a photoreader myself.

As Paul says on page 6 in the Third Edition of the PhotoReading book, "...humans posses a preconscious processor of the mind that can absorb visual information without involving the conscious mind."

This is that "preconscious processing" that we often talk about. See the book, "Preconscious Processing" by Norman F. Dixon, published by Wiley in 1981.

Test yourself. That way you won't be able to say things like, "Well, he has a special gift," or, "Just because she can do it, doesn't mean I can do it," or some other equally debilitating comment.
