I live in a house that is in the Craftsman style. As a result, there are a lot of wood elements in my house. The floors are all wood (except the kitchen), I have crown molding (painted white) and 4-inch base boards (which are not painted), most of my furniture is wood, the fireplace surround is wood (painted a sort of chocolate red) in the south, and there are elaborate wood casings around all of the windows. My fortune element is wood. Because my rooms are small most of my rooms are painted white and the curtains are white. Reducing the wood element in my house is a challenge. Painting is not an option. Any suggestions?

Aloha karen372,

Why are you looking to get rid of a lot of the wood?
What is the facing direction of the front door?
What is the facing direction of the front of the house?
Is it near the ocean, lake, pond, or stream?

Much Love, Shawn

The front door faces East, the front of the house faces East. I am less than 1/4 mile away from Lake Erie, which is North. I don't want to necessarily get rid of the wood. I just thought that this element might be over-represented in my home and that it might cause problems. If not, that's great. I'm still experiementing and trying to figure out how things work.

Good question, I've been wondering about that, too, since I prefer wood furnishings. Is it a question of balancing out the wood with touches here and there of other materials, then?

Good questions,

White-painted molding is already metal.

You are going to want a representation of all the elements in each sector, however, the element that stands out in the room, whether it is a focal piece, linen, or paint color could be of the enhancing or direction element of that sector.

Best, Shawn

Thanks for your help Shawn. If I understand you correctly, the room is what it is to start with, and we add elements to the specific areas of the room to encourage the beneficial energy we seek. Is that right?

Pretty much, and you enhance the element of the sector the room occupies.

Much Love,

Shawn
