Hello,
I am new to SF QiGong. In other QIGong programs I have done when we breathe in we expand the belly and pull the navel in on exhale. With SF when we breathe in we slightly contract the navel then let the belly move out some on exhale like reverse breathing. What is the explaination for this? the video does not mention why. Thanks

Hi.

This breathing technique is called reverse breathing. I think the reason why is not explained in the material but my SFQ instructor in Europe told me that this way of breathing leads to a stronger stimulation of the lower dantian.

I hope this helps.

In the level one material, there is a mention of a mixing of the yin and yang energy with the reverse breathing.
