Size of text and duel columns won't be a problem since the text is still legible and the entire book is usually the dimensions of a regular book. You might have to find a knack for the page turning, just keep a steady rhythm.
Have you thought of photoreading the bible and then allowing yourself to be drawn to the parts to activate?
