No, you don't need to be able to see magiceye type pictures to photoread. For some people this will be physically impossible.
Just use the X-technique, notice the pattern of white, notice the white borders and four corners of the book. Use a softer wider focus. When we say softer we mean is realxed easy on the eye, Kind of like whne you relax and daydream. The X-technique works like a charm. The blip page is just a signal or cue that you also have photofocus, if you let go and just use the x-technique I'm sure you'll find it much easier just to get on with it and photoread.
