If your like many people, your purpose for reading may vary ... my sole purpose for reading is to attain technical knowledge in my field of study. This requires that a great majority of the time I Rapid Read to gain greater comprehension.
One technique offerd by Howard Berg and it works wonders is to use your middle finger as a guide. Read from left to right but always maintain your eye on your middle finger as you go from left to right. Let it be your guide and not your eyes. This method works wonderfully and helps to prevent you from wanting to go back and re-read.
