You again point out things I wasn't aware of or hadn't thought of. I wasn't aware of how the aircleaner really worked. Nor had I thought about the major amount of smoke entering the air is from the exhalation and therefore the ashtray will be of little to no benefit.
You did hit on the issue of her willingness, I have always tried to not have her (my Mom)smoking become an issue to interfer with our time together. The big purifier won't be subtle, so I have hesitations there. But I will let you know how we feel about it, if I do go that route!!
