I too was bothered by the story of Don Shimoda in Richard Bach's book Illusions. I thought that, if he could take a swim in the earth and walk through walls as though they were nothing, and be so creative all the time so much that his airplane never leaked oil, that he could have left Earth much more peaceably. The emotional tone of his actions are what bothered me too. Thank you for your analysis of his behavior, because that clears up some stuff for me.
Also, I live in U.S., and grew up here, born in 1961. I do not remember any headlines about a Messiah being in my country any time since or even before my birth. Can you give more details? I have already tried to find whether the story is true and dig up news stories, but I think the name is fictitious, because I can find nothing.
Would appreciate if you could help with this. Got my curiosity up, now!
